Veda McQuary, age 89, of Beckville, passed away on Thursday evening, December 18, 2025, in Carthage, Texas.

Veda Carol Ritcheson was born on October 29, 1936, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to the late Chester Ray Ritcheson and Clara Inez Villines Ritcheson. On November 9, 1954, she married J.T. McQuary, and together they shared more than 65 years of marriage until his passing on April 24, 2020.

After living in Roswell, New Mexico, Veda and her husband moved to Beckville, Texas in 2010, where she devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. She found great joy in cooking, sewing, attending church, and teaching Sunday school, touching the lives of many through her faith and kindness.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Sturgen, and her son-in-law, Bob Kester.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Steven McQuary and wife Donna, Marcy Kruchkow and husband Mark, and Tamaria Kester; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive Mrs. McQuary.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Youngblood Cemetery, under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
