Zelphia Sanders, 82, of Carthage, passed away on Jan. 4, 2018. Zelphia Justena Booty Sanders was born on Feb. 21, 1935, in Panola County to the late Buford and Pearl Hicks Booty. She graduated from Beckville Sunset High School with the class of 1953, and attended Panola College where she earned her LVN. Mrs. Sanders worked at Panola General Hospital for many years until her retirement. Mama Tina, as her family affectionately called her, was and excellent seamstress. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Elease Lindsay, Opal McDaniel, Earlene Johnson, Dorothy Ingram, Jerolyn Victoria Brown, Helen Spencer, Buford Booty, Jr., and Troy Wayne Booty; and grandsons, Welton W. Sanders III and Duston Waters.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Welton W. Sanders, Sr. of Carthage; sons, Bobby Gibson and wife Gloria of Arlington, Welton W. Sanders, Jr. of Friendswood, and Tony Sanders and wife Jackie of Carthage; sisters, Lenora Trimble of Los Angeles and Mildred Faye Carter of Red Oak; brother, Eugene Booty of Longview; grandchildren, Shawnone, Christopher (Ilona), Bobby II, Kennon (Bridgette), Derrick (Tamara), Kelton, Brandie, and Tony II (Cassandra); 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Sanders.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Benton and Rev. Bobby Gibson, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. A viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tavarius Spencer, Rev. Larry Sanders, Cory Sanders, Taft Allison, Marcus Alexander, and Dorthel Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Gibson, Bobby Gibson II, Kennon Blackshire, Derrick Thompson, Kelton Sanders, and Tony Sanders II.
