Funeral services for Mrs. Yvonne Bethell Whitaker, age 91, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Keefe Cropper and Rev. Leah Hanks officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. on Monday at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Whitaker passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 2, 2010, in Carthage.

Denny Yvonne Bethell Whitaker was born on July 18, 1919, in Henrietta, TX to Leon W. Bethell and Katherine Ward Bethell. She graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1936, where she was a charter member of the Flaming Flashes under the direction of Gussie Nell Davis. She married T.D. Whitaker on May 24, 1945, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1980. Mrs. Whitaker moved to Carthage in 2005, from Tyler where she was a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. Mrs. Whitaker was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Margaret Eldridge, Maurine Davis, and Mary Louise Young.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her daughter, Kay Hubbard and husband Dwaine of Carthage; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hsiao and husband Loren of Allen, Robert Majors of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Jeff Majors of Carthage, Leigh Hubbard and husband Bill Galligan of Providence, Rhode Island, and McLain Hubbard of Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Caleb Hsiao. Mrs. Whitaker is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
many friends.

Serving as pallbearer are Bob Baker, Dr. Johnny Majors, Loren Hsiao, Robert Majors, and Jeff Majors.
