A funeral service for Mrs. Wilma York Broome, age 90, of the Dirgin Community, near Tatum, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Lakeview Baptist Church near Lakeport, TX, with Bro. Ted White officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Tatum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Broome passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2013, in Longview.
Wilma York Broome was born on April 14, 1923, in Rusk County, TX to the late William Thomas and Ella Elizabeth Fleniken York. She enjoyed playing 42 and canasta, fishing, and feeding people. Mrs. Broome was a Baptist and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, J.L. "Buddy" York and Jim York; two sisters, Christine Stowe and Mable Hightower; and one grandson, Jimmy Wayne Broome.
Mrs. Broome is survived by two sons, Tony Lee Broome and Grady Michael Broome and wife Johnnie all of Tatum; one daughter, Beth English and husband Bruce of Tatum; four grandchildren, Grady Michael Broome, Jr. and wife Melissa of Overton, Gail Thedford and husband Mike of Tatum, Pam Ellis and husband Ralph of Corinth, and Brad English of Tatum; and five great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Broome.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Thedford, Brad English, Chad Stowe, Grady Michael Broome, Jr., Terry Findley, Alan Turner, and Lance Drake.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Ralph Ellis and Steve Trotter.
