Willie Odell Rocquemore, 73, of Carthage, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8, 2017, at his home. He was born on Oct. 14, 1943, in Carthage to the late Herman and Willie B. Wilcots Rocquemore. Willie graduated from Turner High School with the class of 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Willie worked as an A.B.O.C. Optician Lab Technician for Vision Source in Longview for 15 years until 2009. At that time, he began to manage the optical practice for Dr. Jeff Jones. He had upwards of 40 years optical experience at his retirement. He lived most of his lifetime in Carthage and was a member of Johnson Chapel C.M.E. Church. Willie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Alfred Rocquemore, Clifford O. Rocquemore, Bonnie Marry, Raymon G. Marry, Maxine Marry, and Tommy Marry, Sr.

Survivors include his children, Michael Rocquemore of Stockton, CA, Brian Rocquemore of Stockton, Shernia Jones and husband Bryan of Carthage, Jonathan Gibbs of Dallas, and Garrick Gibbs of Carthage; siblings, Lueen Smith of Waco and Johnny Marry and wife Betty of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Gladys Rocquemore of Palm Springs, Judith Marry of Carthage, and Barbara Marry of Carthage; and 11 grandchildren.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Johnson Chapel C.M.E. Church with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
