Willie Verne Davis, 81, of Long Branch, Texas, passed away on Sunday morning, October 23, 2022, in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Davis was born on July 31, 1941, in Panola County, Texas to the late Willie and Dorothy Fern Moody Garrett. She married Lee Grady Davis on January 28, 1958, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2022.  Willie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Long Branch. She worked in housekeeping and later in custodial services for Panola College, Tyson Foods, and for Carthage I.S.D. at Baker Koonce School. Willie was a great cook, enjoyed fishing and loved being with her family. She was also preceded in death by her son, Danny Davis; daughter, Gwenda Davis; and siblings, Cynthia Herndon, Pamela Garrett, and Bessie Smith.

She is survived by daughter, Debra Jackson; sons, Billy Davis (Jackie) and Jimmy Davis (Angela); and siblings, Bernard Garrett, Jessie Otis Garrett, Patricia Garrett, and Bennie Garrett. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Long Branch with Rev. James Wall, Jr. officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Sean Hooker, Nicholas Wall, Corey Davis, Jacobby Burrough, Michael Davis, Brian Wall, Christopher, Bowens, and JaCorey Ware. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy l. Davis Billy G. Davis, George Davis, Bernard Garrett, and Jessie Otis Garrett.
