Mr. William Ralph Spink, age 78, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 28, 2009, in Carthage. There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, 1131 SH 149, Carthage, Texas 75633.

William Ralph Spink was born on October 4, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to Richard Ross and Margaret Ann Black Spink. Mr. Spink graduated from Lane High School in Brooklyn with the class of 1951. During high school, he served as captain of the swim team. Mr. Spink served his country in the United States Navy from 1951-1954, and was honorably discharged. He worked as a carpenter and lived in New York, Florida, and Texas. Mr. Spink moved to Longview from Florida in 1979 and from Longview to Carthage in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sheila Dixon; and a son-in-law, Bud Stumme.

Mr. Spink in survived by four sons, Billy Spink of Sag Harbor, New York, Arthur Spink of Merritt, North Carolina, David Spink of Sag Harbor, and Andrew Spink of Sag Harbor; one daughter, Christine Stumme of Sag Harbor; one sister, Jerelyn Burleson and husband Ralph of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
