Funeral services for Mr. William "Steve" Holmes, Jr. age 64, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delbert Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Holmes passed away on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2011, in South Bend, Indiana.

Mr. William "Steve" Holmes, Jr. was born on Sept. 6, 1947, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of William Holmes, Sr. and Dorothy Campbell Holmes. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX with the class of 1966. After graduation, Mr. Holmes attended trade school. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972, attaining the rank of Quartermaster before being honorably discharged. He re-joined the U.S. Navy reserves as a Seabee. Mr. Holmes worked for Texas Department of Transportation as an engineer until his retirement in 2011. He was an avid ham radio operator, loved photography, traveling, and was a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Holmes moved to Carthage in 1983, from Tulsa, OK and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Holmes is survived by one daughter, Ann Bogenschutz and husband Todd of Carthage; one son, Kevin Holmes and wife Shay of Douglasville, GA; one brother, Terry Holmes of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Stephen and Paige Bogenschutz and Austin, Dallas, and Houston Holmes; aunt, Esther Messmore and cousin, Jerri Messmore both of South Bend, IN; and special friend, Patty Dawson of Carthage.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Bogenschutz, Richard Bagley, Max Stillwell, Mike Anderson, Ray Brady, Pat Porter, and Stephen Bogenschutz.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of the area Ham Radio Club.
