Funeral services for Mr. William Fate "Bill" Rinkle, age 76 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harold Gunstanson and Brother Noel Coker officiating. Entombment will follow in Restland Memorial Park Mausoleum near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Rinkle passed away on Monday night, March 10, 2008 in Jefferson, Louisiana.
William Fate "Bill" Rinkle was born on January 5, 1932 in Panola County, Texas, one of two children born to Neil L. and Willie Mae Dickerson Rinkle. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1950. Mr. Rinkle served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. While attending college, he met the love of his life, Lois Poskey. On December 17, 1955, Bill and Lois were married in Nacogdoches, Texas and left for adventures in Alaska. Bill taught high school in Ketchikan, Alaska. Tim, an only child, was born to Bill and Lois while they were in Alaska. Later, Bill taught and served as school administrator in North Dakota. After returning south, he worked in insurance then joined his father as a building contractor. Bill served on the Carthage City Council from April 1978 until March 1984. Mr. Rinkle was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Willie Mae Rinkle; his beloved wife of 45 years, Lois Poskey Rinkle; Lois was the "wind beneath Bill's wings"-and he never recovered from her death.
Bill is survived by his son, Timothy N. Rinkle of Metairie, LA and a sister, Sible Roethke and husband Charles of Carthage, TX.
Serving as pallbearers are Earnum Rinkle, Don Rinkle, Paul Rinkle, Rickey Luman, Bradley Simmons, and Dwight Taylor. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Neal Bolton, Earl C. Powell, Ken Turner, and Dr. Royce Hill.
