Graveside services for Mr. Wilburn "Webb" Vanover, age 78 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Oddfellows Cemetery with the Reverend Richard Pruitt officiating. Services under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Vanover passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in Carthage.
Wilburn "Webb" Vanover was born on October 31, 1929 in Cinda, Kentucky to Manuel and Mae Johnson Vanover. He graduated from Hyden High School in Hyden, Kentucky with the class of 1947. Mr. Vanover served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Maria Sallaberger on November 27, 1952 in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Vanover worked as a truck driver for many years. He had lived in Carthage since 1980, moving from Kentucky. Mr. Vanover was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby Vanover.
Mr. Vanover is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Vanover of Carthage; four sons, Kim Vanover of Carthage, Chris Vanover and wife Vikki of Longview, Clark Vanover and wife Sheryl of Arkansas, and Clifford Vanover of Carthage; one daughter, Trudy Lynn Walling and husband Sonny of Carthage; three sisters, Louvina Melton of Kentucky, Sybill Layman and husband Jack of Kentucky, and Della Sue Harman and husband Dan of Michigan; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
