Wayne Turner Brewster, 70, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born October 20, 1954, in Carthage to James and Anne Brewster. Wayne attended Carthage ISD all of his school years, graduating with the class of 1973. He was an alumnus of Sam Houston State and graduated in 1978. He also attended Texas Southern in Houston for history studies. Wayne coached and taught history. He still heard from former students who still called him "Coach." One of Wayne's favorite things to do was to ride motorcycles, and he owned one most of his adult life. Wayne also believed in the power of prayer and never let us leave his house without holding hands and praying with him. He also would pray with anyone he might encounter, whether it be waitresses that served his meals, or perfect strangers that he would see as he would walk into a store. Wayne grew up in the Methodist church.

Besides his parents, Wayne was sadly preceded in death by all of his siblings:  Linda Griffith, Shirley Owens, and Jim Brewster.

Nephews, Todd Griffith (Kim), Eric Brewster (Ashley), Derek Brewster (Dawn), and nieces, Stacie Malone (Todd), and Nicole Porter (Kym) survive their Uncle Wayne.  He is also survived by his dear and best friend, Barry Samford.

Wayne's favorite place was the ocean, which is why he spent many years in Houston. His request to family and friends was for his ashes to be scattered in the ocean. A private family memorial service will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
