Funeral services for Mr. Wayne T. Baker, age 62, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at the Walnut Springs Baptist Church near DeBerry with Bro. Buddy Briggs officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Friday at the church prior to the service. Mr. Baker passed away on Tuesday night, Nov. 29, 2011, in Tyler.

Wayne Thomas Baker was born on Oct. 24, 1949, in Nacogdoches, TX to Martin Dies Baker, Sr. and Oleta Cox Baker. Mr. Baker graduated from Galena Park High School in Houston with the class of 1969. He married Wilma Fay Nation on Oct. 26, 1974, in Houston, TX. Mr. Baker worked for Rexam Can Plant in Longview, TX, for 25 years, retiring in 2008. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He moved to DeBerry in 1983, from Houston. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Martin Dies Baker, Jr.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Wilma Baker of DeBerry; two sons, Cory Wayne Baker and Chad Baker both of DeBerry; and one sister, Martha Jo Loftis and husband Jimmie of Pearland. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Baker.

Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Loftis, Eddie Nation, David Plemmons, Brandon Everett, Jeremy Farmer, and Tommy Thomas.
