Obituary

Waymon Earl Blair, Jr., age 68, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Carthage. He was born on February 13, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Waymon Earl Blair, Sr. and Elizabeth Ola Folsom Blair. Waymon graduated from Gary High School with the class of 1974, and later earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He worked as a supervisor accountant at Texas Utilities Mining Company until his retirement. Waymon was a 32-degree Mason and a member of the Gary Masonic Lodge. He was a longtime member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  Waymon was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and could hustle you out of all your pocket change in a game of pool. He was a worthy adversary at a poker game and known to flip a domino table if he was unhappy with your style of play.  His laugh was infectous and you would know it was him from across the room!  He loved his children more than anything in the world, and he would burst with pride if he talked about his grandbabies.

He is survived by his children, Leslie Amanda Blair Wood and husband Matt, Ashley Brooke Blair Hall and husband Rick, and David Dakota Blair and wife Abigail Myers; grandchildren, Madison Brigham and husband John, Eric Wood, Hudson Hall, and Junia Myers Blair; great-grandchildren, Logan and Strider Brigham; and sisters, Emma Lou Blair Burleson and husband Kirk and Patti Jean Blair Hooper and husband Terry. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Saul Petty officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.

Pallbearers are Tilden Hooper, Dustin Burleson, David Soape, Garrett Soape, Bart Blair and Jason Blair.
