Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Walter Scott Sparks, age 40, of Bossier City, LA, formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Maxie Sparks and Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at County Line Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Sparks passed away due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Shreveport.

Walter Scott Sparks was born on Aug. 6, 1971, in Longview, TX to Walter Stephen and Tony Ann Rogers Sparks. Scott graduated from White Oak High School with the class of 1990 and attended Kilgore College where he played football. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1991, and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1995. Scott was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was presently enrolled at ICDC College where he was studying Alcohol and Drug Counseling. Scott loved hunting, fishing, guns, and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Benny Rogers and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Novie Sparks.

Mr. Sparks is survived by his father, Walter Sparks and wife Vicky of Carthage; his mother, Tony Thompson and husband Donald of Henderson; two sons, Colton Sparks of South Berwick, Maine and Jordan Snyder of Kilgore; his maternal grandmother, Clara Rogers of Union Grove; three brothers, Matt Sparks and wife Abby of Carthage, James David Griffin, III and wife Katriana of Liberty City, and Jeremy Thompson of Cornelius, NC; two sisters, Nicky Sparks Young and husband Morgan of Carthage and Melanie Cash and husband Cam of Austin. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Scott.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Schroeder, Shane Colston, Roger Davidson, Brad McKinney, Monty "Gunny" Wiltrout, Mike "Neutral" Graves, Bobby "Scooter" Torbert, and Edward "Satch" Sanchez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are The Marine's Motorcycle Club.
