Walter Scott Mullis, 45, of Longview, formerly of Carthage, passed away on Friday morning, May 12, 2017, in Longview. He was born on Dec. 23, 1971, in Montgomery, AL to the late Earl and Dorothy Ann Boyd Mullis. He was raised in Carthage and attended Carthage High School. Scott worked as a driller in the oil field. He enjoyed fishing and reading. Scott also enjoyed studying the Bible and was always quick to help anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Melinda Jean Mullis.
Survivors include his sisters, Darla Townsend and husband Lonnie of Fair Play, Debra Ingram of Marshall, and Jennifer Malone and husband Brian of White Oak and his second mom, Joyce Ransom of Carthage. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Scott.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Macedonia Cemetery with C.C. Gower and Alan Mott officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Keith Abernathy, Bo Ritter, Ronnie Townsend, Jason Townsend, Billy Evans, Heath Nutt, Brandon McDaniel, and Joey Spurlock.
Honorary pallbearers are Lonnie Townsend and Brian Malone.
