W. R. Holt, 63, of Henderson, passed away on May 24, 2016, at his home in Henderson. He was born on Oct. 10, 1952, in Henderson to the late William Ray and Kitty Priscilla Pennington Holt. Mr. Holt attended Gaston School growing up. He worked as an auto body technician most of his life until his retirement. Mr. Holt loved hunting, fishing, and classic car restoration. He was a comedian and enjoyed making people laugh. Mr. Holt attended AA and celebrated 27 years sobriety, having sponsored and helped many people throughout the years. He married Emma Doris Shires on April 7, 2001, in Henderson. Mr. Holt lived most of his life in Henderson and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Emma of Henderson; son, Chris Sullivan and wife Sabrina of Troup; daughters, April Andreew and husband Michael of Germany, Angy Tarbutton and husband David of Henderson, Amanda Friebel and husband Peter of Germany, and Shannon Whitlow and husband Heith of Henderson; brothers, Lynn Holt and wife Judy of Church Hill and David Holt of Dallas; sister, Trudy Holt of Beaumont; grandchildren, Heather, Cody, Shyan, Ashley, Hailey, Cameron, Taylor, Brian, Celestine, Ella, and Skylar; and great-grandchildren, Lyndsey, Gracie, Alison, Natalie, Jocelyn, and Westley.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Blizzard and Gene Gossett officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody Tarbutton, Cameron Sullivan, Brian Tarbutton, Jody Browning, Michael Browning, and Harley Marley.
Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Richardson.
