Vivian Fox, 85, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday evening, Aug. 6, 2020, in Carthage. Vivian Claire Harborth was born on Sept. 29, 1934, in Sequin, TX, to the late David and Irma Buch Harborth. She spent her childhood and early adulthood in Sequin and Guadalupe County, graduating from the public schools there. Vivian married Jack Dalton Fox on Oct. 1, 1952, in Sequin. She was a Sunday school teacher, served as a volunteer Cub Scout den mother, and held offices in local Parent-Teacher Organizations. She attended Panola Junior College, Texas Tech University and the University of Southern California with writing and school children in mind. She worked as a school librarian for Carthage I.S.D. at Libby Elementary for 16 years, and was an author beginning in 1983, with Eakin Publications. Her studies of Indians and Texans led her to write her first book, "The Winding Trail", which is the history of the Alabama-Coushatta Indians . She was also the publishing editor of a travel club magazine called "Tidings" at Nation Wide Publications. She enjoyed gardening and walks in the woods with her husband, children, grandchildren, or their dogs. Vivian was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Mason; brother, Harold Harborth; and sister, Frances Neyland.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Jack Fox; son, Alan Fox and wife Sheila of Carthage; sister-in-law, Rae Harborth of Rosenburg; and grandchildren, Amy and Shon.
