Virginia Howes, 83, of Lake Murvaul, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2018, at her home at Lake Murvaul. Virginia Braxton Howes was born on December 7, 1934, in Winterville, North Carolina to the late Robert and Johnnie Bell Creel Braxton. She graduated from Winterville High School with the class of 1951. Virginia married Donald Earle Howes on May 30, 2003, in Washington, North Carolina. She worked at Proctor & Gamble as a supervisor until her retirement. Mrs. Howes moved to Lake Murvaul in May of 2018, from North Ft. Myers, Florida. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ray Avery; her son, Kenneth Avery; and her siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Don Howes of Lake Murvaul; daughter, Judy Haddock and husband Jeff of Vanceboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Tammy Swindell and husband Kevin and Jessie Trueblood; great-grandchildren, Dameon and Jacob Swindell; step-children, Cindy Howes and husband David Comer of Lake Murvaul and Don Howes, Jr. and wife Amanda Clark of New Jersey.

Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
