Virginia Churchman, age 87, of the Old Center Community in Panola County, Texas, passed away on Thursday night, December 7, 2023, in San Augustine, Texas. Arlene Virginia Acrey was born on April 5, 1936, in the Jumbo Community in Panola County, Texas to the late Arlin and Madgie Hudman Acrey. She graduated from high school in Mt. Enterprise, Texas. Virginia married Billy Howard Churchman on January 16, 1951, at the Highway Tabernacle in Timpson, Texas with Bro. Gabler officiating the ceremony. Mrs. Churchman worked as a retail clerk and owned her own retail business for many years. She later worked well into her 70's in the home health industry until her retirement. Mrs. Churchman enjoyed cooking, painting, and reading. She moved to Panola County in 2002, from Oakwood, Texas. Mrs. Churchman was of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 5, 2002; sons, Joe, Michael, Bill, and Wayne Churchman; and siblings, Dorothy Acrey, Bob Tinkle, and Loraine Nix.

Mrs. Churchman is survived by her children, Regena Churchman and Max Lee Churchman and wife Janice; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Davis; and brother, Joe Mac Acrey and wife Rhonda.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
