Funeral services for Mrs. Vesta Rae Hutchins, age 99, of Grand Prairie, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Hutchins passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 5, 2011, in Grand Prairie.

Mrs. Vesta Rae Bell Hutchins was born on July 22, 1912, in Bossier City, LA to Walter Jefferson and Callie Lee Southerland Bell. She graduated from high school in Bossier City with the class of 1930. She married Robert Ray Hutchins in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1954. Mrs. Hutchins earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at the University of Houston and she taught at Needville I.S.D. until her retirement. She was an excellent pianist and organist and taught piano lessons in LaMarque for many years. Mrs. Hutchins was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Hutchins is survived by three sons, R. Clayton Hutchins and wife Una of Grand Prairie, Robert J. Hutchins of Dickinson, and Walter Ray Hutchins and wife Laura of Spring; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Mark, Kimberly, Holly, Gary, Nicole, Brad, Greg, and Brent; and seven great-grandchildren, Cheyna, Cheyanne, Avery, Jon Cole, Charlotte, Katjanna, and Mikayla.
