Funeral services for Mrs. Veda M. Isbell, age 76, of the Lake Murvaul Community of Panola County, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ken Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Isbell passed away on Saturday morning, October 31, 2009, in Carthage.
Veda Mignon Isbell was born on February 10, 1933, in Post, Texas to Dr. Ophia Alton and Goldie Leigh Drake Jones. She graduated from DeLeon High School in DeLeon, Texas with the class of 1950. Mrs. Isbell married Dearrel Dean Isbell on December 1, 1950, in Stephenville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2009. Mrs. Isbell moved to Panola County in 1990, from Corpus Christi. She was an artist and a homemaker. Mrs. Isbell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph Alton Jones and Ray Nolan Jones.
Mrs. Isbell is survived by two sons, Dearrel Dewayne Isbell and wife Kathy and Donald Dean Isbell and wife Amber all of Lake Murvaul; one daughter, Janis Ranon Snipes and husband Jack of Aiken, South Carolina; one brother, Melvin Doyle Jones of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Isbell.
Serving as pallbearers are William J. DeGraw, J.R. Duke, Mark Carter, Keith McIlwain, Charlie Humphries, and David Humphries.
