Funeral services for Mrs. Valerie Lynn Schmidt Slagle, age 51, of Shreveport, LA, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Stowell officiating. Interment will follow in Panola-Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Slagle passed away on Thursday morning, Feb. 2, 2012, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Valerie Lynn Schmidt Slagle was born on May 3, 1960, in Shreveport, LA, to John and Margaret Johnson Schmidt. She married Clay Carlton Slagle on Dec. 22, 2006, in Shreveport. Mrs. Slagle moved to Denham Springs, LA two years ago from Montgomery, AL and had previously lived in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Diane Schmidt.

Mrs. Slagle is survived by her husband Clay Slagle of Shreveport; her parents, John and Margaret Schmidt of DeBerry; two daughters, Kristy Parker and husband Matthew of DeBerry and Stacey Stegall and husband John of Altus, OK; two brothers, Brandon Schmidt and Paul Stanley both of DeBerry; one sister, Regina Bond and husband Brian of Shreveport; three grandchildren, Gage, Brody, and Ella Parker; niece and nephew, Kim Almanza and husband Felipe of Lewisville and Andrew Bond and wife Michelle of Mooringsport, LA; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Diego and Gabriella Almanza and Drew and Avery Bond.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Patricia Dupuy, Dr. Gerald Miletello and the 4th floor oncology nurses at Baton Rough General-Bluebonnet for the loving care given to Mrs. Slagle.

Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Parker, John Stegall, Andrew Bond, Felipe Almanza, Paul Stanley, and Greg Atwood.
