U.C. Johnson, 78, of Carthage, TX, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 14, 2019, in Carthage.  He was born on Aug, 20, 1941, in Carthage, to the late Jacob and Kizzie Alberta Brown Johnson. He attended Beckville schools and was a long-time member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Fairplay. He worked many years for Beckville I.S.D. in the custodial department.  Some of Mr. Johnson's most favorite things were playing dominos, the L.A. Lakers and race cars. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, James, Eugene, Calvin, and Billy Johnson, Mattie Collins, Myra Bell Jones, Mildred Wallace, Alberta Hardy, Jeanette Malone, Janice Pope, Cozette Wallace and Georgette Walls.

Survivors include his wife, Modies Nell Johnson; son, Darryl Wayne Johnson; brother, Jacob Johnson of Mineola; sister, Lizzie Wilcots of Beckville; special nieces, Roshell Nelson, Linda Berry and Kimberly Duck; special nephew, Thomas Johnson; special great-nieces, Sharonda Manier and Tynia Nelson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
