He was born on June 28, 1953, in Carthage, Texas. A proud graduate of Carthage High School's class of 1972, Tyrone built a commendable career working for several oil field companies, including Martin Lake and Select Oil Field Services. On March 18, 2005, Tyrone married Dorothy Faye Gatlin in Carthage, Texas. Their union was a source of great joy and companionship, and they shared many treasured moments together. Tyrone was of the Baptist faith. He found fulfillment in simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and raising cows, activities that brought him peace and satisfaction. Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents, William Small and Vada Mae Perkins Small, his two children, Miko Small and Edward Tyrone Small, and his siblings, Troy Small, LeRoy Small, Edward Small, Bertha Waddy, Muriel Small, and Bobbie Franklin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Faye Gatlin Small; his bonus children, Shemika Clarkson; caretaker and son, DaShon Gatlin (Connie), and Tyzmia Gatlin. Tyrone’s family expanded further with the joy of his great grandchild, Carleigh Williams, who brought brightness to his later years. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Marie Franklin (Freddy), and the loyal companionship of his dogs, Tank and Tyson.
Tyrone will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his kindness, his faith, and his commitment to those he cared about. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
