Travis Leon Walton, 74, of Carthage, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 3, 2018, in Carthage. Mr. Walton was born on July 2, 1944, in Carthage to the late Jack and Emma Lee Sims Walton. He graduated from Turner High School with the class of 1962, where he lettered in football and served as the team captain. He worked for the City of Carthage for many years. Travis married Annie Faye Turner on Oct. 6, 1977, and she preceded him in death on May 22, 1995. Mr. Walton was a member of Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Carthage. He was also preceded in death by his son, Vincent Tyrone Walton; sistes, Mercille Jones and Levell Greer; and brother, L.C. Britton.

Survivors include sons, Harold Walton and wife Ericka, Charles Walton and wife Elizabeth, and Cortez Walton and wife Angie; daughters, Vanessa Ford, Sonya Rollins and husband Harold, Audrey Walton, Carolyn Lewis and Wanda Holland; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
