Tommy Gibbs, 80, of the Shiloh Community, in DeSoto Parish, LA, passed away on Saturday night, June 8, 2019, in Bossier City, LA. Thomas Kelly Gibbs was born on Sept. 25, 1938, in the Shiloh Community to the late Thomas Cecil and Mittie Odell Evans Gibbs. He graduated from high school in Longstreet, LA with the class of 1957. He married Betty Louise Bagley on May 25, 1962, in Pasadena, TX and she preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2011. Mr. Gibbs worked for General Electric until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Herbert Gibbs.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by sons, Barry Gibbs and wife Sam of Shiloh and Bobby Watson and wife Darla of Antioch; daughter, Shannon Gibbs and companion Howard McCarty of Keatchie; daughter, Katina Yeargain and husband Joe; son, Scotty Gibbs and wife Christi; brothers, Lonnie Gibbs and wife Sandra of Logansport, Johnnie Gibbs and wife Nancy of Logan, and Cecil Gibbs and wife Ria of Shiloh; grandchildren, Dusty Watson and wife Tara of Logansport, Matt Watson of Logansport, Jordan Gibbs and wife Misti of Wiley, Briar Gibbs and wife Leah of Keatchie; and Alisha Gibbs and companion Josh Sanders of Keatchie; special friend, Kevin Cordova; and 23 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Gibbs.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Shiloh Methodist Cemetery with Bro. Joe Walker officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are John Derek Adams, Dusty Watson, Matt Watson, Jordan Gibbs, Briar Gibbs, and Howard McCarty. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Blades and Kevin Cordova.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard E. Haynie, Dr. Corky Davis, and the nurses and staff at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital, ICU and STAT Home Health for the loving care provided to Mr. Gibbs during his illness.
