Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Lue Johns, age 79, of the Del Ray Community of Panola County, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at The Family Worship Center in Carthage with Rev. James Greer officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. Mr. Johns passed away on Tuesday morning, June 22, 2010, near Carthage, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Tommie Lue Johns was born on June 18, 1931, in the Del Ray Community of Panola County, TX to Floyd Johns and Dennie Rayson Johns. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1952. Tommie served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, and was honorably discharged. He married Eloise Bowen in 1970, in Fresno, CA. Tommie worked for General Fire Proofing in San Louis Obispo, CA and then PG&E in Paso Robles, CA. After moving back to Carthage, he worked for C.I.S.D. for 18 years until his retirement. He was a faithful and loyal member of The Family Worship Center in Carthage. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Nathaniel Johns, Johnnie Johns, Odis Johns, and Melvin Johns, Sr.; and one sister, Pearline Beck.

Mr. Johns is survived by his wife, Eloise Johns; one son, Charles Lee Cooper; one daughter, Jacqueline Williams and husband McKinley all of the Del Ray Community; four sisters-in-law, Inez Harris (J.D.), Willie Mae Davenport, Goldie J. Bowen, and Jayce Allen (Dr. Richard Allen). Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mr. Johns.
