Tollie Bowers Davison, 84, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday morning, January 12, 2017, in Carthage. He was born on November 6, 1932, in Panola County to the late Lloyd Shipp and Fairy Bowers Davison. Tollie graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1951, and attended Panola College. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at the University of Texas at Austin. He later earned a PhD at Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Davison was an educator and taught at East Texas State University in Commerce and at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Lynn DeShazo and husband Charles of Huntsville; his brother, James Davison and wife Helen of The Woodlands; nephew, Ben Davison and wife Sandra of Houston; niece, Ann Sattler and husband Scott of Seattle, WA; great-nephews, Austin, Carter and Parker Davison, and Hank Sattler; and great-niece, Chloe Sattler.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers are Austin Davison, Carter Davison, Parker Davison, Ben Davison and Chris Bell.
