Tim Harkrider, 69, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 23, 2021, at his home in Carthage. Timothy Thomas Harkrider was born on August 21, 1951, in Carthage to the late K. Troy and Thelma Elaine Thomas Harkrider.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Brooks Harkrider of Carthage; sons, Dr. Tim Harkrider II and wife Toni of Willis and Kip Harkrider of Carthage; brother, Kent Harkrider of Carthage; sister, Rebecca Williams and husband David of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, K.J., Dylan, Laney, Reece, and Meredith Harkrider; and great-grandson, Trace Harkrider.

Tim and Cynthia were married on January 15, 1971 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Spending time with family was their most enjoyable moments. They also loved relaxing by the pool and working in their yard together.

Tim loved baseball. He raised two major league players in Timmy and Kip. He was an assistant coach when the Carthage High School Baseball team won the State Championship in 1990. He was a huge fan of The University of Texas Baseball organization. His took great pride in watching his boys excel at baseball and in their adult lives.

Tim gave an astounding 36 years to public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator. At retirement, he was serving as the assistant principal at Baker Koonce Intermediate School in the Carthage Independent School District. He will be remembered affectionately for supporting his students and staff. The most memorable gift he gave was jumping out of an airplane to celebrate the top readers at his campus.

Tim led the award-winning "HeartBeats Jump Rope Team" and traveled all over the nation to showcase the team's hard work and dedication while teaching Physical Education in the Henderson Independent School District.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Dodson and Dr. Monty Pierce officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Waldrop Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Paul Leggett, Micah Cockrell, Brad Wisener, K.J. Harkrider, Dylan Harkrider and Reece Harkrider.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Cox, Mike Wilson, Scott Lee, Dr. John Nielson, Steve Williams and Bill Arnold.
