A graveside service for Thurmon Osburn, 88, of Beckville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Langley Cemetery with Bro. Jackie Harris officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Osburn passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2014, in Longview.

Thurmon Osburn was born on Jan. 1, 1926, in the Fair Play Community to the late Charlie Franklin and Minnie Mae Allred Osburn. He joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Osburn married Nannie Faye Dunn on March 6, 1945, in Beckville and she preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 2006. He worked as a home builder until his retirement. Mr. Osburn enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting and was a longtime member of the Beckville Hunting Club. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Osburn was also preceded in death by one sister, Lena Fay Davidson.

Mr. Osburn is survived by one son, Joe Osburn of Beckville; three daughters, Gaile Toon and husband Roger of Kilgore, Sherian Brasher and husband Sonny of Beckville, and Donna Yates of Beckville; one brother, Billy Joe Osburn of Fair Play; six grandchildren, Dwain Rieke, Royce Rieke, Josh Toon, Jennifer Toon, Sonya Brasher, and Clay Brasher; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Maddie, Ashton, Rain, Ivy, Rowdy, Christopher, Hunter, Tyler, Haden, Kaylee, and Kyle.

Serving as pallbearers are Dwain Rieke, Royce Rieke, Clay Brasher, Bryan Hathorn, and Tyler Killen.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill Langley and Jack Harris.
