Graveside services for Mr. Thomas Linzie Downs, 91 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday June 30, 2007 at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage with Dr. William Everett officiating. The family will receive friends from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the graveside service. Mr. Downs passed away Monday evening June 25, 2007 in Carthage.

Thomas Linzie Downs was born August 7, 1915 in Tatum, Texas to James Oliver and Lena Dossett Downs. He married Mary Elizabeth Brevard and they celebrated over 63 years together. He had lived in Carthage since 1979 moving from Tatum, Texas. He was employed with Texas and Pacific Railroad for 23 years, retiring in 1980. Mr. Downs was a member of Central Baptist Church of Carthage. Mr. Downs was preceded in death by wife Mary Brevard Downs in 2003; five brothers, Lloyd, James, Reuben, Grady, and Leo; and one sister Ola Mae Hays.

Mr. Downs is survived by one son, James R. Downs and wife Sandra of Asheville, North Carolina; one daughter, Betty Crow and husband Mike of Terrell, Texas, one granddaughter, Suzanne Downs, of Asheville, North Carolina, one grandson, Eric Downs, Petty Officer First Class United States Navy, Norfolk, Virginia, three nieces, and one nephew.
