A funeral service for Mrs. Thelma Pauline Godwin Bice, age 84, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley and Bro. Mike Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in DeBerry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bice passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2013, in Carthage.

Thelma Pauline Godwin Bice was born on June 30, 1928, in Washington, Arkansas to Melvin Hartvel and Eugenia Turnage Godwin. She married Oswald L.M. "Les" Bice, Jr. on Oct. 9, 1959, in Carthage. She worked as a machinist at Emperial Reading, Inc. until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Bice lived all of her life in Panola County and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage where she was also a member of the Sertrusa Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jessie Mae Shipp; four brothers, Elvin, Ervin, Frank, and Clyde Godwin; and two sisters, Doris Eason and Mattie Belle Shires.

Mrs. Bice is survived by her husband of 53 years, Les Bice of Carthage; two sons, Rondal James Amburn and wife Sally of Carthage and Floyd Wayne Bice of Longview; two daughters, Donna Jean Earley and husband Dale of Haughton and Marsharie Reed of Greenwood; one brother, Harold Godwin and wife Rebecca of Clayton; two sisters, Emma Corley and Pearl Stephens both of Carthage; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Bice.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Bice's grandsons.
