Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Kelly Baker Yount, age 84, of the Galloway Community in Panola County, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Broadus and Mr. Gary Murph officiating. Interment will follow in Adams Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Yount passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 24, 2010, in Carthage.
Thelma Kelly Baker Yount was born on May 14, 1926, in the Logan Community of Panola County to Lovie Baker and Thelma Barnett Baker. She attended the rural school at the Logan Community and graduated from Logansport High School with the class of 1945. Mrs. Yount married Lavern Yount on Nov. 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1986. Mrs. Yount loved sewing, cooking, and quilting. She lived most of her life in the Galloway Community and was a member of the Logan Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school and served as the church secretary/treasurer for many years. Mrs. Yount was also preceded in death by her parents, Lovie and Thelma Barnett Baker; one brother, James A. Baker; two sisters, Juanita Walker and Vesta Mae Creech Henderson; two sisters-in-law, Frances Baker and Norma Baker; and two brothers-in-law, John Walker and Quinton Creech.
Mrs. Yount is survived by her son, Jerry Yount and wife Judy of Heavener, OK; her daughter, Zoe Ann Conway and husband Bob of Jacksonville, TX; two brothers, L.D. Baker and wife Mary and Charles Daniel Baker all of the Logan Community; 5 grandchildren, Bobby Conway and wife Darlene, Scott Conway and wife Chris, Angie Abernathy, James Yount and wife Bonnie, and Wendy Broadus and husband Jason; 14 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Yount.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Conway, Scott Conway, James Yount, Danny Yount, Lynn Walker, Bradley Abernathy, and Trevor Yount.
