Terry Young, 71, of Tatum, TX, passed away on Monday afternoon, July 5, 2021, in Longview, TX. Terry Mitchell Young was born on Oct. 18, 1949, in Henderson, TX to the late Chester Arnold and Darlene Lavon Jennings Young. He graduated from Tatum High School with the class of 1969, and attended trade school and became an electrical lineman. Terry married Billie Gayle Custis on March 27, 1975, in Gregg County, TX. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, tinkering in his barn, and taught his grandchildren everything he knew. Terry is a member of the Church of Living Waters in Tatum. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Young.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Young of Tatum; son, Billy Mitchell Young and wife Jill of South Dakota; daughter, Kerri Patterson and husband David of Tatum; siblings, Patricia Wyatt and husband Sammy of Tatum, Kathy Christian and husband Brian of Tatum, and Glen Young and wife Michelle of Tatum; and grandchildren, Cade Mitchell Young, Arianna Patterson, and Katie Young.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Boone officiating. Interment will follow in Tatum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Billy Young, David Patterson, Troy Woodard, Cade Young, Randall Briggs, Sammy Wyatt, Chris Wyatt, and Luke Woodard.
