Terry Simpson

Terry Simpson, age 88, of the Old Center Community in Panola County, Texas, passed away on Saturday morning, July 11, 2026, in a Tyler hospital following a brief illness.

Terrence James "Terry" Simpson was born on August 17, 1937, in Orono, Ontario, Canada, to the late Hilliard and Jean Cowan Simpson. He attended school in Red Lodge, Montana, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1961, receiving an honorable discharge.

On October 7, 1983, Terry married Sandra Mitchell House. They shared 24 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on December 24, 2007.

Terry devoted his career to the oil and gas industry, working for Halliburton as a Field Cement Supervisor until his retirement in 1991. Following retirement, he and Sandra relocated from Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Lake Murvaul in Panola County, where he enjoyed many years. In 2025, he made his home in the Old Center Community.

Terry found great joy in hunting and fishing and treasured the time he spent outdoors.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Terry was preceded in death by his siblings, Shiela Dell, Hilliard Simpson, and Shawn Simpson; grandsons, Justin Simpson, Ian Simpson, and Anthony Schuyler; stepdaughters, Teresa Milam and Holly Bruning; and the mother of his children, Margaret Ann Barnett.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, July Simpson Schuyler and husband, John, Tina Simpson Wiese and husband, Jerry, and Patrick Simpson and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Amber Arnold and husband, Josh, Karlee Cohorst and husband, Tyler, Evan Wiese, and Ryan Wiese; great-grandchildren, Kallie Simpson, Eli Cohorst, Bryson Cohorst, Adaline Pass, and Katherine Arnold; sister, Heather Scott and husband, Greg; stepson, Chris House and wife, Tina; stepdaughter, Stacy Holmes and husband, Kenneth; step-grandchildren, Joel James Ackerman and wife, Megan, Ginny Collins and husband, Craig, Abby Holmes, and Mitch Milam; and step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Mason, and Wrenley Ackerman, Reese, Audrey, and Lily Collins, and Wyatt and Athena Arnold.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
