Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Talmadge Mitchell, age 91 of Tenaha, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Tenaha. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. Interment will follow in Social Point Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her residence in Tenaha.
Talmadge Mitchell was born on October 22, 1915 in Panola County, Texas to Ben and Addie Ellison Miller. Mrs. Mitchell attended Social Point Schools in Panola County. She married Clyde Mitchell, Sr. on March 11, 1932 in Panola County, Texas and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage. She loved cooking, gardening, and planting flowers. Mrs. Mitchell worked for many families in the Tenaha area. She had lived her lifetime in the Tenaha area and was a member of the Social Point Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in November 22, 1987; one daughter, Jennie V. Eaton; one son, Bobby Ray Mitchell; two brothers, Bennie Miller and Limon Miller; and a sister, Dorothy Miller Caraway.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by six sons, Clyde Mitchell, Jr. and wife JoAnne of Tyler, Johnny Ray Mitchell and wife Betty of Timpson, William Earl Mitchell and wife Bennie of Tenaha, Lenzy Mitchell and wife Lorraine of Lake Jackson, Cleveland Mitchell of Houston, and Wallace Mitchell of Tenaha; two daughters, Addie Riggans and husband Charlie of Tenaha and Marie Mitchell of Houston; two special granddaughters, Charlotte Weaver of Houston whom she raised and Adrian Gail Mitchell of Tenaha; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Mitchell.
Serving as pallbearers are Charles Keith Riggans, Fred Cotton, Bruce Odom, Kevin Flakes, Jerry Odom, and Don Wall.
