Funeral services for Mr. Syril M. Mayo, age 81 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bob Scott and Brother Noel Coker officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Mayo passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006 in Tyler, Texas.

Syril M. Mayo was born on March 15, 1925 in Carthage, Texas to William E. and Emmie J. Brewster Mayo. Mr. Mayo loved God, his family, and he especially loved his great-great-great niece. He loved singing and enjoyed riding his bike. He was a devout Christian and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Mayo had lived his lifetime in Carthage. He was preceded in death by two brothers, W. L. Mayo and J. W. Mayo and one sister Johnnie Ruth Mayo.

Mr. Mayo is survived by two brothers, Willie J. Mayo of Carthage and James Weldon Mayo of California; Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Serving as pallbearers are Earl Davis, Mike Johnson, Jason Weaver, Charlie Mayo, Billy Mayo, and Joey Richburg.
