Sylvia had a love for scrapbooking and was known by her family as the best cook ever. She especially loved feeding people, and that love was reflected throughout much of her working life. She worked for many years at Hadden’s Sandwich Shop in Gilmer and later served as the caregiver at Gilmer Care Center. She continued her career in healthcare, working as a nurse’s aide for many years and caring for others.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her son, Pervis E. Young; five siblings; and great-great-grandson, Kristopher Sparks.

She is survived by her children, Kim Wingfield, Cindy Steger and husband David, and Rusty Young and wife Jinjer; grandchildren, Leslie Kerlick (Chad), Casie Mullanix, Morgan Young (Nicky), Wayne Mullanix (Caitlyn), Schuyler Young, and Stormy Richardson (Jacob); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Hale (Jan).
