Sylvia Rogers, 75, of Troup, TX, passed away suddenly of a brief illness on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at her home surrounded by her children. Sylvia Laverne Putnam was born on April 22, 1944, in Vicksburg, MS to the late Floyd and Marion Finch Putnam. She graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1962. Mrs. Rogers worked at the hospital in Marshall as a caregiver. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, George Rogers; parents, Harry Uttley and Marion Uttley; brother, Floyd Putnam, Jr.; and grandson, John Abbott, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Charolette Anderson and husband Victor, Dodie Voyles, Christine Folmer and husband Wayne, Charles Abbott, Jr. and wife Sarah, John Abbott and wife Peggy, and Danny Ray Abbott and fiancé Tish; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Regina Agent, Frankie Putnam and fiancé Dickey, John Putnam and wife Anne, and Harmon Putnam and Patty; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
The family will celebrate her life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at her home near Troup. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
