Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Elizabeth Mills Fields, age 94 of Carthage will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in the Chapel of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home with Brother Billy Shoffner and Sister Betty Wills officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery near Carthage under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Fields passed away Monday morning, August 14, 2006 in Carthage.
Mrs. Susie Elizabeth Mills Fields was born on October 30, 1911 in Shelby County, Texas to James S. and Mary C. Cox Mills. She married Roy Delton Fields on April 5, 1933. Mrs. Fields had lived in Carthage since 1950 moving from the Willow Grove Community in Shelby County. She was a member of the Northside Christian Center and was a devout and faithful Christian. She loved crocheting, cooking, gardening, fishing, and reading her Bible. Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1979; two brothers, Elbert Mills and Gerone Mills; four sisters, Myrtie Mae Mills, Irene Johnson, Loney Stewart, and Ethel Mills; two grandsons, Clint Fields and Roger Phillips; and one great-great grandson, Kelly Postell.
Mrs. Fields is survived by two sons, Clive Fields and wife Lucille of Carthage and Jerrel Fields and wife Linda of Carthage; three daughters, Erma Fae Adams and husband Elvy of Carthage, Susie M. Dorman of Carthage, and Delores Phillips of Carthage; two sisters, Dona Bozeman of Gladewater and Dorothy Blackman and husband Jimmy of Gladewater; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and twenty-one great-great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Serving as pallbearers are Jack Wills, Grady Wills, Aaron Bequette, Mike Shoffner, Millard Smith, and Clayton Eubanks. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Dr. Royce Hill.
