A memorial service for Mrs. Joyce Crooks, age 96 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arnold Shrewsbury officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Pine Crest Gardens in Mena, Arkansas. Mrs. Crooks passed away on Friday morning, March 6, 2009 in Carthage.

Susie Joyce Crooks was born on September 17, 1912 in Effingham, Kansas to Elmer and Suzie Shell Price. She married R.E. Crooks in Clovis, New Mexico on November 15, 1931. During her life, Mrs. Crooks lived in Memphis, Texas, Mena, Arkansas, and Carthage, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Price of Kansas and Suzie and Alvis Teel of Mena; husband, R.E. Crooks; and granddaughter, Libby Crooks Sparks.

Mrs. Crooks is survived by three sons, Bobby Crooks and wife Pat of Carthage, Roger Crooks and wife Carol of Gurley, Alabama, and Toby Crooks and wife Eva Ann of Abilene; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
