Obituary

Graveside services for Mrs. Sudie Ruth Mayo, age 86, of Rusk, Texas, formerly of the Lake Murvaul Community in Panola County, Texas, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Texas under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mayo passed away on Thursday night, June 18, 2009, in Tyler, Texas.

Sudie Ruth Harrison Mayo was born on June 11, 1923, in Carthage, Arkansas to John Allen and Bessie Mae Garrison Harrison. Mrs. Mayo graduated from Leola Arkansas High School with the class of 1941. She was a member of the Carthage V.F.W. Post 5620. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to cook in her various restaurant ventures, as well as for her family. She was always giving and never expecting. She loved to teach and share life's experiences and wisdom with her family. She will be deeply missed. Mrs. Mayo moved to the Lake Murvaul Community in 1987, from Arkansas. She attended the First Baptist Church in Gary. Mrs. Mayo was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sonny Harrison; and three husbands, Ernest Bishop, Christopher Brixey, and Billy Rex Mayo.

Mrs. Mayo is survived by one son, Allen Bishop and wife Bobbie of Alvin; three daughters, Christine Brixey of Federal Way, Washington, Barbara Marshall and husband John of Gary; and Sue Bishop Clark and husband Cris of Rusk; two sisters, Kathyleen Brown and husband John O. and Evyleen Wilson all of Sheridan, Arkansas; grandsons, Robert Fenton and wife Kimberly of Lindale, Jason Cope and wife Julie of Richmond, Cody Chisum of Gary, and Chris Stewart and wife Jill of Rockwall; granddaughters, Dena Bumgarner and husband Johnny of Huffman, Kristin Powers and husband Brandon of Grapevine, and Jana Fullen and husband Cary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Anna, Patrick, Kara, Megan, and Naomi Fenton, Johnathon and Chelsie Cope, Ella Stewart, Zak, C.J., Lexie, and Jacob Bumgarner; and Thomas Powers.
