Obituary

Funeral services with military honors for Staff Sergeant Tommy L. Marry, Sr., Retired, 52 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Ingram, Bishop Hubert Owens, and Reverend David Gates officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Marry passed away on Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 2007 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Tommy Lynn Marry, Sr. was born on February 28, 1955 in Carthage, Texas to Claude and Willie Wilcots Marry. He graduated from McClain High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1973. He married Barbara Stanley on June 6, 1974 in Tulsa. Mr. Marry served his country in the United States Army for over twenty years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retirement from the Army in 1993, Mr. Marry moved back to Carthage from Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mr. Marry was employed at Tyson Foods in Tenaha, Texas for ten years as a diesel mechanic. Mr. Marry loved working with cars. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Marry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bonnie Marry, Alford Rocquemore, and Clifford Rocquemore; one sister, Maxine Marry; and one grandchild, Deonte Cherry.

Staff Sergeant Marry is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Barbara Marry of Carthage; three sons, Djuan Marry and wife Stephanie of Mount Enterprise, Tommy Marry, Jr. and wife Latasha of Carthage, and Patrick Schroth of Carthage; two daughters, Anjuana Cherry of Carthage and Shajuana Jenkins and husband Reginald of Carthage; three brothers, Willie Rocquemore and wife Patsy of Carthage, Johnny Marry and wife Betty of Dallas, and Raymond Marry and wife Judith of Carthage; one sister Louene Smith of Carthage; twenty-three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive Mr. Marry.

Serving as honorary pallbearers Djuan Marry, Tommy Marry, Jr., Patrick Schroth, Timothy Cole, James Wilcots, Willie Smith, Henry Barkins, Larry Roberts, and Reginald Jenkins.
