Sidna LaGrone, 78, of the Deadwood Community in Panola County, TX, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2018, in Longview. Sidna Dorcas Gillis LaGrone was born on Dec. 17, 1939, in Pearsall, TX to the late John Sidney and Eva Doris Strickland Gillis. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi with the class of 1958. She attended Delmar Jr. College in Corpus Christi. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Tulsa. Sidna married James Clayton LaGrone on May 12, 1962, in New Braunfels, TX and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2010. Mrs. LaGrone owned and operated Deadwood Land and Cattle Co. She was a member of the Deadwood United Methodist Church. Mrs. LaGrone was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Jennifer LaGrone Carlson; and brother, John Cecil Gillis.

She is survived by her sons, Brad LaGrone and wife Debra and Clay LaGrone and wife Tami; son-in-law, Marc Carlson; brothers, James K. Gillis and wife Marlene and Joel L. Gillis and partner Maurisa Byerly; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Patrick, Zachary, Abrea, and Georgia LaGrone; great-grandchild, Kymber LaGrone; nephews, Jeff Gillis and wife Sandy and Greg Gillis and wife Linda; nieces, Shelley Deluna and husband Louis and Kim Minchich and husband Matthew; sister-in-law, Dianne Page; nephews, Scott Page and wife Brandi and Monty Page and wife Somer; and nieces, Brenda Monge, Patricia Hirsch, Cindy Monahan, and Teresa Beighley. Numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Scalora officiating. Interment will follow in Deadwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Patrick LaGrone, Zachary LaGrone, Scott Page, Monty Page, Jeff Gillis, and Greg Gillis.
