Sible Roethke, age 93, of Carthage, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 12, 2026, in Carthage.
Sible Pauline Rinkle was born on December 22, 1932, in the Deadwood Community of Panola County, Texas, to the late Neil Lafayette and Willie Mae Dickerson Rinkle. On June 1, 1956, Sible married the love of her life, Charles Alfred "Chuck" Roethke. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage before Chuck preceded her in death on December 18, 2020.
She graduated from Carthage High School and furthered her education at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she earned her Master's Degree in Education. Sible devoted her professional life to educating young people. She enjoyed a distinguished career as both a teacher and principal, retiring from Amarillo Independent School District in 1989 after many years of dedicated service.
Following their retirement, Sible and Chuck returned to Carthage, where they became faithful members of Sanctuary of Pentecost. Together they served the church in many capacities, including as Sunday School teachers, Sunday School superintendents, and youth leaders. Their greatest passion was sharing the Gospel. They traveled extensively throughout the world, serving as "tentmakers" and helping establish churches while ministering wherever God led them.
Sible possessed a servant's heart and a deep love for people. She was especially known for faithfully visiting those who were sick, offering encouragement, compassion, and prayer to anyone in need. Her quiet acts of kindness and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Chuck Roethke; her brother, William Fate "Bill" Rinkle; and her nephew, Tim Rinkle.
Those left to cherish her memory include her “adopted daughter”, Rolonda Elms Carrington and husband, Rev. Nathan Carrington; numerous cousins and other beloved relatives; her cherished Sanctuary of Pentecost church family; and a host of dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Landtroop and Bro. Rick Cook officiating. Entombment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Rinkle, Paul Rinkle, Stephen Luman, Chance White, Terry Luman, and Brandon Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Royce Hill, Gene Riggs, Bro. Rick Cook, and Eldon Newman.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sible's memory to Sanctuary of Pentecost, P.O. Box 352, Carthage, Texas 75633.
