Shane Capps, 44, of Carthage, passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 20, 2021, in Tyler. Michael Shane Capps was born on Feb. 12, 1977, in Longview to Michael Don and Phyllis Ann Works Capps. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1995, and furthered his education at Eastfield College on a baseball scholarship. Shane married Crystal Diane Scholer on Feb. 6, 1998, in Carthage. He worked in the oil and gas industry for Bagley Well Service. Shane was an incredible athlete and was proud to be a Carthage Bulldog! His love for sports was a driving force in his life. Additionally, he enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing at the river, hunting, grilling, and hanging out with friends. Most of all, Shane loved and was much loved by his family! He adored his children and never missed a moment to be their #1 fan. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his charisma and charm, and his sincere love for people and life. His family is greatly comforted knowing that Shane is resting in the arms of his savior.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Phyllis Capps; wife, Crystal Capps; children, Gunner and Alli Capps; sister, Misty Capps Ladymon and husband Casey; niece, Lexi Ladymon; and nephews, Dax and Knox Ladymon. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Carthage with Steven Hill and James McRight officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Blanton Rich, Gunner Capps, Bo Sharpe, Casey Bagley, Shane Hartless, Callahan Baldree, Scott Surratt, Justin Dowdy, Sammy Peace, and Blake Harris.
Honorary pallbearers are Casey Ladymon, Squeaky Works, Marvin Pelham, John Woods, and Jeff Glenn.
