Funeral services for Mr. Saul Wilcots, Jr., age 98 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church near Carthage with Reverend Maggie Young officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Wilcots passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007 in Carthage.
Saul Wilcots, Jr. was born on April 6, 1909 in Carthage, Texas to Saul Wilcots, Sr. and Pearl Fite Wilcots. Mr. Wilcots worked as a cement mason. He loved staying busy, farming, and going to church. Mr. Wilcots was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marshall. He was preceded in death by two sons, L. K. Wilcots and Theodis Wilcots.
Mr. Wilcots is survived by three sons, Hermon Wilcots and wife Betty of Carthage, Loberis Wilcots and wife Lizzie of Carthage, and Charles Wilcots of Richmond, California; two daughters, Ernestine Ponder of Carthage and Erma Smith and husband Carl of Madera, California; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; twenty-nine great-great grandchildren; and three great-great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Wilcots, Donald Wilcots, Marvin Wilcots,James Wilcots,Frederick Wilcots, Damien Manier, Desmun Pellum, and Adrian Cain. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Michael Wilcots,Rickey Wilcots, Kenneth Wilcots,U. C. Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Albert Ponder, Kenneth Ponder, and Ronald McCree, Mario McCain.
