Funeral services for Mr. Samuel White, 77, of Beaumont, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Johnson Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont with Rev. Nonette officiating under the direction of Claybar Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home of Beaumont. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. White passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009, in Carthage, Texas.

Samuel White, who was the fifteenth of fifteen children, was born on October 26, 1931, in Beaumont, TX, to Clifton White, Sr. and Cora Lee Osborne White. He was an avid golfer and a published poet. He also belonged to the NAACP, volunteered for B.I.S.D., belonged to the Labor Union, and helped build St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Louise White; and 9 brothers and sisters.
Mr. White leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Anna Mouton White; two daughters, Mary Jewell Henson and Mary Elizabeth Rickett; one son, John Leonard Carriere, Sr.; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four brothers and sisters.
