IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sammy
Vandegriff
February 4, 1944 – November 17, 2019
Graveside services for Mr. Sam Vandegriff, loving husband, father, and grandfather, will be held at Langley Cemetery in Beckville on Tuesday, November 19th at 2 p.m.
Sam was born on February 4th, 1944 in Oak Grove, Arkansas to Hugh and Helen Vandegriff. He married the love of his life, Valarie Hopper, on February 24th, 1963. Valarie feels very blessed to have shared over 57 years of her life with her beloved Sammy. They moved to East Texas in 1982, settling in Beckville. Together, they cherished their three sons Kelly, Sunny, and Michael, and their four daughters Shanyn, Cherrie, Cyndi, and Katie, who are all proud to call him the very best daddy in the world. He also cherished his three grandchildren Crystal, Cassie, and Tristan, who treasure their grandpa.
To Sam, his family came first, and they were the most important part of his life. Sam was an avid gardener and handyman who loved working on special projects around the house. If something was broken, he loved to fix it. He was always willing and happy to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Valarie, his children and grandchildren, as well as his brother Bill Vandegriff. He is also survived by his sons-and-daughters-in-law Shelly Vandegriff, Joe Beason, Kevin Johns, Traci Vandegriff, Jonathan Anderson, and Mark Norcross-Vandegriff who were all very dearly loved by him. He also deeply loved and valued his special lifelong friends Billy Rex Jennings and Carl Jones.
His absence will be life-changing to all who knew him.
