Sally Ann George Amburn, 72, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Saturday morning, January 14, 2023, in Longview, Texas. She was born on December 24, 1950, in Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas to the late Sam Vernon George, Sr. and Jessie Aline McBride George. Sally attended school in Harmony and Terrell and later earned an associate's degree from Panola College. She worked as a social worker for the Texas Department of Human Services until her retirement. Sally married Rondal James Amburn on November 14, 1989, in Carthage. She was of the Baptist faith. Sally was preceded in death by a brother, Buster George.

She is survived by her husband, Rondal "Ron" Amburn; sons, Kevin Stephens and wife Donna and Scotty Stephens and wife Bernie; siblings, Sam George and wife Carol, John George and wife Hannelore, Rufus George, Mary Crowell, Ivan George and wife Clara, and Dollie Lindsey and husband Chris; and grandchildren, Kailey, Ashley, and Elora Stephens. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Ivan George officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Andy Lindsey, Josh Lindsey, Jason Lindsey, Bobby Joe Peace, Gene Turner, Nicholas George, and James Tramel.

Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Swope and James Boykin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department, PrimeCare Hospice, and the 2 ^nd Floor Nurses at Longview Regional Hospital for the loving care provided to Sally.
